Robert Half Legal Releases Annual Legal Salary Guide

Starting Salaries for Legal Jobs Projected to Rise 2.6 Per Cent in 2015

TORONTO, Oct. 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Average starting salaries for legal professionals in Canada are projected to increase 2.6 per cent overall in 2015, according to the just-released Robert Half Legal 2015 Salary Guide. Lawyers at midsize and small-to-midsize law firms should see greater-than-average salary gains. Among legal specialists, the largest gains in annual base compensation are expected for compliance analysts and litigation support directors.

Robert Half Legal is a legal staffing firm specializing in lawyers, law clerks and other highly skilled legal professionals. The company's annual Salary Guide is based on extensive research, as well as local and national employment data gathered from Robert Half Legal offices throughout North America.

"Hiring in the legal field is on the rise, with growth in the litigation and corporate law practice areas driving much of the activity," said John Ohnjec, division director of Robert Half Legal. "Law firms are expanding service offerings to capitalize on emerging business opportunities, and corporate legal departments are handling more matters in-house."

Ohnjec noted that as competition intensifies for legal professionals with experience in high-growth specialties, employers are more willing to increase compensation and enhance benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
